Programme profile

This programme is for students who want to become courageous and innovative practitioners in the social field. A proactive approach to learning about working with children, young people, adults and client groups who are at the risk of social exclusion characterises the programme. Though the language of instruction is English, the importance of learning Finnish will be emphasised throughout the programme. On graduation, you will be qualified to work in supervisory, counselling and managerial roles in communities or in a residential setting.

The framework of the curriculum is social pedagogical: the approach aims at preventing exclusion and promoting inclusion and social pluralism. It focuses on the empowerment of citizen action, initiative, self-help as well as on social influence.
