Interest in global affairs has increased in response to market globalisation, improvements in communications and climate change. Economic relations have become more complex and generated copious amounts of data which must be processed and interpreted in order to explain the relevant facts and anticipate the course of events.The economist faces the challenge of providing responses to major challenges and offering solutions to urgent problems. Greater equal opportunities, policies to handle migration, environmentally-friendly growth: these are just some of the enormous issues which a degree in Economics will cover.

The course content is designed to provide tools which can be used to both analyse economic reality and provide proposals for change and reform. Students are taught to ask questions, to gather relevant information, analyse it clearly and offer solutions, indicating the points in favour and against a particular private or public policy.Basic training in Economics is complemented with specialisation from a choice of subjects depending on the student"s preferences.
