Programme profile


This programme is a communication programme combining subject areas from three different fields of study, i.e. communication, business administration and language.

The programme focuses on advertising, branding, PR and market communication in an international context. It provides you with basic theoretical and practical tools for planning and implementing communications tasks within branding, PR and marketing, both internally and externally for the company. You will work on practical assignments such as creation and updating of websites, preparation of press releases, reports, product presentations, company profiles, planning of international campaigns etc.

The programme is designed so that the courses complement each other and integrate elements across the subject areas. This means that the tasks and projects that you work on in the business administration and communication courses form the basis of and the framework for the teaching in the language courses. The language courses are therefore never considered isolated courses, but always in interaction with the other programme elements.

Year 1: Introductory Economics; Textual and Visual Semiotics; Academic Writing; Theory of Scientific Method; Introduction to Business Organisations; Organisational Communication; Communication Theory and Reception Analysis; Discourse Analysis; Corporate Journalism; Marketing

Year 2: Public Relations; Media; Corporate Internet Rhetoric; Organisational Behaviour; Management Accounting; Cultural Theory and Analysis; Integrated Marketing Communication; Scientific Corporate Communication; Electives

Year 3: Project Management; Electives; Thesis

Entry Requirements


General Certificate of Education with examination in 8 subjects where at least 3 are A-levels, alternatively 2 A-levels + 2 AS-levels.Subjects to include A/S Level Maths and A/S Level History OR Economics OR Social Studies [or equivalent]

Leaving Certificate, showing at least 6 subjects of which at least 2 Higher Level subjects (at least Grade H5). FETAC Level 5 Certificates and Level 6 Advanced Certificates will be considered for admission only to same study field as they would gain entry for in Ireland Subjects to include to include Maths and History or Social Studies [or equivalent]
