Programme profile

The Medialogy programme is based on the studies of human and computer relations, audio-visual effects, human perception, immersive computer systems and new interfaces.

During the span of the programme, students are given a strong technical foundation, both in theory and in practice. You will study areas within film and music technology: and how computer science plays a part in the media productions both now and in the future.You will also learn how we can utilise technological advances within science, to produce VJ applications or computer generated animation movies in 3D. You will discover how to incorporate sensors in interfaces and how to generate advanced sound effects. Furthermore, you will develop an insight into creative processes as well as the considerations necessary before media-productions begin.

Year 1: History of Medialogy; Medialogy, Humans and Society; Programme Design; Mathematics; Human-Computer Interaction; Multimedia Programming

Year 2: Perception; Audiovisual Production; Statistics; Image Processing; Audio Design; Measurement of User Experience; Media Sociology; Sensor Technology; Physical Interface Design

Year 3:
Animation Techniques; Screen Media; Virtual Photography; Animation Environments; Visual Effects; Interactive Systems; Computer Games; Thesis

Entry Requirements

General Certificate of Education (with examination in 8 subjects where at least 3 are A-levels, alternatively 2 A-levels + 2 AS-levels. Subjects to include Maths

Scottish Students are required to have a SQC with 2 Advanced Highers and at least 4 Highers. Subjects to include Maths

Six subjects at Leaving Certificate including at least two 2 at H5. Subjects to include Maths
