Programme profile
Within this programme, students receive knowledge in the field of basic sciences as well as clinical disciplines on the basis of which graduates may take up practice as dentists. Retaining the medical character of the programme whilst orienting it to the professional dental fields is of great importance.
Graduates of this programme will possesses basic knowledge in the field of medicine and advanced knowledge in the field of dentistry.
S/he will be capable of: providing professional dental care; planning, implementing and assessing preventive and therapeutic care as part of the promotion of health and pro-health education; as well as undertaking postgraduate (doctoral) studies.
The graduate may work in health care institutions, didactic-research institutes and research-developmental institutes, and practise as a doctor of dentistry.
S/he will be capable of cooperating with other people, managing teams, and establishing rapport with patients and their families.
Fees rise to 15,500 in Third Year and 16,000 in Fourth and Fifth Year
Progression
This programme is recognised by the General Dental Council and Irish Dental Council for registration to practise as a dentist in the UK and Ireland.

Six subjects at Leaving Certificate including at least two 2 at H4. Subjects to include Maths, Biology AND Chemistry OR Physics
