Programme profile


The standard Masters programme in Pharmacy takes five years and is based on a credit system. The Faculty is a member of the Association of European Faculties of Pharmacy and its graduates meet all the requirements for the profession as defined by the European Union directive 2005/36/EC.

In the initial two years students revise and broaden their knowledge of elementary natural and medical subjects to the level required for studying specialist subjects in the field of Pharmacy The programme is concluded by defending the thesis and taking the final state examination.

Programme content


1st Year: Introduction to Study and History of Pharmacy, General and Inorganic Chemistry, Human Morphology, General Biology , Premedical First Aid , Biology of Plants, Biophysics , Organic Chemistry, Human Physiology, Electives

2nd Year: Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pathophysiology, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Fundamentals of Colloids, Phytochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Professional Czech, Electives

3rd Year: Theory of Medical Forms, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacy Practice, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Electives

4th Year: Pharmacology and Toxicology, Pharmacy Law and Ethics, Analysis of Drugs, Forms and Biopharmacy, Pharmaceutical Care, Clinical Pharmacology, Social Pharmacy, Thesis, Electives

5th Year: Clinical Pharmacology, Thesis, Internship [26 Weeks]

Entry Requirements


3 A-levels  (including Biology and Chemistry) and 3 GCSEs

Leaving Certificate showing at least 6 subjects of which at least 2 are Higher Level subjects (at least Grade H5). Subjects to include Biology and Chemistry
