Study on the Dutch coast

HZ University of Applied Sciences is a medium-sized institute in the south-west of The Netherlands with some 4,200 students, 500 of which come from five different continents. It has campuses in Vlissingen and Middleburg. For over 25 years, HZ has welcomed international students and prides itself in having a strong and varied international orientation.  Its slogan “where students matter” is put in practice at all times.

HZ places great emphasis on coaching individual students. Classes are small and each student is assigned a career coach to help with choosing course units and explore career opportunities. HZ has an extensive network of partner universities all over the world, so students are offered a wide choice of one-semester international exchange programmes and internships in many countries.

In the past five years, HZ has constantly been in the Top 3 of Dutch universities of applied sciences. It was named the best University of Applied Sciences by “HBO Keuzegids 2014”, the new choice guide for Higher Education in the Netherlands. This guide describes the quality of all higher education in the Netherlands. Eighteen out of twenty-five of the rated Bachelor Degrees ended up in the national top three.
